Scooter Braun is no longer the owner of Taylor Swift’s masters.

Variety reports that Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings LLC has officially sold all of the master rights to Taylor Swift’s first six albums.

The news serves as yet another hard blow for Taylor Swift, who very publicly called out Scott Borchetta and Big Machine just last year for not giving her the opportunity to own the rights to her own back catalogue.

The bad blood came to a head in July 2019 when it was announced that Braun had purchased Big Machine Record, the acquisition of which also happened to come with the rights to Swift’s music through her 2017 Reputation album.

At the time, Swift released a statement saying that Braun owning the rights to her old music was her “worst case scenario”— especially given that Braun had been bullying her for quite some time.

Though Braun no longer holds the power over her back catalogue, it’s clear the high profile music exec’s latest blow is one that will continue to haunt the “Cardigan” crooner.

So who has Braun sold the the Swift master rights to? For now, it seems as though that remains a mystery. Per their report, Variety says that the buyer is an investment fund, and that the the deal is “believed to be north of $300 million.”

What makes today’s news especially interesting is that it comes in November 2020, which, as Swift fans know all to well, also happens to be the earliest Swift can start re-recording music from the first five records she cut while at Big Machine.

It’s a moment Swifties have been looking forward to since Swift revealed in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning back in August 2019 that she does, in fact, have plans to re-record her earlier material.

Taylor Swift has yet to issue her own statement on today’s big news, but we’re sure she’ll do so soon.
