Scandal makes room for a two-hour Grey’s Anatomy, but we have all the important updates on what’s to come for Olivia’s future.

Left and right, stories on Scandal are creeping close to the brink of explosion, with one notable exception– Jake’s waistline.

“Thwack!” lit a fuse deep inside Olivia’s psyche that finally ignited the fire that was threatening to burn inside her since her kidnapping. Stolen, auctioned off, treated and then tossed back into reality, Olivia Pope has not had an easy go of things. Olivia is woman who thrives in control and is seen as a beacon of stability. For weeks she worked to keep that façade in tact for her team and those closest to her, but the cracks were easy to spot.

Rowan saw his fractured child, perhaps in a way that only a father can know, or more likely in a way he recognized from breaking so many B613 agents in his lifetime. In all fairness, which, arguably, Rowan does not deserve, he did make a point at the outset of “Thwack!”— Olivia was going to cross a line and she was going to cross it soon.

What waits for Olivia on the other side of her actions from last week? Thanks to the top notch team at OPA, not too much fallout in the press. But as Abby fell back in line with Olivia and Huck handled the blood splattered clothes and physical evidence, Quinn delivered a volatile package to Rowan’s front stoop. Olivia runs home in the wake of her fall. Can she ever expect to rebuild herself under the watchful eye of the man who tore down so many others?

Speaking of men trained in Rowan’s image, Jake will take a break from the buffet of chicken, bagels, eggs and orange juice to slip into a tux to carry out a plan against his fiancé, Vanessa. Funneling money through Vanessa’s accounts is just one small piece of the plan Jake and Rowan are setting in motion and Olivia living under her father’s roof may finally reveal the large picture.

What else can you expect when Scandal returns in two-weeks’ time? Flashbacks! Though a trip down memory lane without Cyrus’ awesome hair styles is not in the cards, we will get a taste of Jake’s introduction to B613.
