This Thursday’s Scandal season 3, episode 8 pits Olivia’s parents Rowan and Maya against each other for the first time in the show’s history.

Last week’s episode revealed that Olivia’s mother is alive and did not die in the plane crash because she was pulled off the flight at the last minute.

In a clip from Scandal season 3, episode 8 we see Rowan entering the cell that Maya has been kept in and tells her that she has to be moved so that she’s harder for Olivia to find. Mom agrees, but first she must meet her daughter. “You know that’s not possible,” Rowan tells her. Watch below:

Do you think Olivia’s mom will get her wish? We still do not know why Maya has to be kept in a cell and why Rowan is so hellbent on keeping the mother and daughter from seeing one another. Nonetheless, Project Remington is slowly coming to light.

According to the synopsis for Scandal season 3, episode 8, “Olivia and the team try to handle both uncovering the truth behind Operation Remington, while also managing a potential crisis with the Josie Marcus campaign. Meanwhile, Quinn falls further down the rabbit hole with Charlie, and Cyrus creates a plan to take down Sally, but doesn’t think of the possible harm he could inflict on himself.” The episode is titled “Vermont is for Lovers, Too.”

Besides the revelation that Olivia’s mother is still alive, on last week’s episode we also learned that Mellie was raped by Fitz’s father and that one of their children is Papa Fitz’s. The President does not know that his wife was raped, but it was because of that vicious attack that Mellie was able to leverage Fitz’s father to convince his son to run for the office of California Governor. In turn, that led him to running for President of the United States. Read our Scandal recap for more information.
