Scandal returns tonight with season 3, episode 12, titled “We Do Not Touch the First Ladies.” Check out a preview of the episode now!

Last week’s episode of Scandal season 3 ended with a little bombshell: Mellie had a fling with Fitz’s new VP running mate Andrew Nichols many moons ago. Now that he’s back in her life, Mellie will have to confront him about his intentions.

The synopsis alludes to such activity. “Old feelings and jealousies arise at a Presidential event causing Fitz to face a harsh reality,” it says. “Meanwhile, Quinn tries to prove herself to B613 and Leo Bergen sets up a meeting between Sally and an old friend.”

A clip from the episode shows Olivia threatening the reporter who’s got the dirt that she’s looking to print. Olivia thinks she may be able to get her to keep quiet (take away that job in DC!), but the reporter insists she’s got hard evidence she’s seen with her own eyes.

In another scene, Andrew and Mellie talk about his intentions within the White House. He says that he didn’t take the VP gig to spend more time with Mellie, his former flame. At least, that wasn’t the only reason. Oh Mellie, Fitz is surely going to find out about this.

Photos from the episode show a chat between a well-dressed Mellie and Olivia, a scene between Fitz and Olivia, and some action going down in the office of Olivia Pope and Associates. Take a look:

Scandal season 3, episode 12 airs Thursday, March 6 at 10 p.m. eastern/pacific on ABC.
