After a really long wait, Scandal season 3 resumes tonight with episode 11 titled “Ride Sally Ride.”

The title of tonight’s Scandal season 3 episode obviously refers to the Vice President. According to the synopsis, she’ll take center stage. “The White House deals with a bombshell announcement from Sally Langston. Meanwhile, Olivia finds herself in a challenging new role,” it reads.

Scandal has been off air since early December, so here are a few key points you need to remember going into tonight’s mid-season premiere:

– Mama Pope is the enemy: Olivia has realized her mother isn’t who she was cracked up to be. It’s her father, Rowan, who’s the good guy, not Mama Pope. To make matters worse, Marie somehow went from being on a flight to Hong Kong to killing the pilots on the plane and standing in front of the White House, where she called Olivia and said she’d see her soon.

– Vice President Sally killed her husband: The White House will help her cover it up if she agrees to not run for the President of the United States in the upcoming election. Although she agrees, previews for tonight’s episode suggest that she’s going to change her mind.

– Jake is now head of B613. This appears to have been orchestrated by Fitz, and it’s pissed off Rowan (who was captured by the President).

Promos for Scandal season 3, episode 11 use several superlatives to hype up the return of the show. We see lots of action-packed clips including Rowan telling his daughter Olivia that she has reason to be terrified:

A clip from the episode shows David and James are meeting to discuss the tape they have of Sally essentially admitting to the murder of her husband.
