Time Out! It sounds like Mark-Paul Gosselaar didn’t get the memo about that upcoming Saved by the Bell revival.

Just yesterday, NBC paired the announcement of their forthcoming streaming site with news that they’re already in the midst of working on a Saved by the Bell revival set to air exclusively via Peacock.

Though it’s true that Bayside High alums Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkeley are indeed set to reprise their roles as AC Slater and Jessie Spano, one thing that wasn’t made clear was whether or not any of the other core cast members would return.

So why haven’t we heard word about whether or not the revival will feature Zack and Kelly?

According to Mark-Paul Gosselaar, the reason we haven’t heard word about whether or not he’ll be involved is because he hadn’t heard the revival was happening until word got out on the internet!

“Honestly, I was never approached,” Gosselaar said, according to TV Line. “I woke up to the news this morning with a ‘huh’ kind of response.”

Though it’s crazy to think that Lopez and Berkeley have yet to approach him, it doesn’t sound like there are any hard feelings on Gosselaar’s end.

Though the actor confessed that he’s “always been interested in a [revival], he also said that he understood that sometimes communication of such things gets lost in the crossfires of ‘the business side of things.’”

Despite the fact that he hasn’t been formally asked to return yet, the good news is it sounds like Gosselaar is very much interested in coming on board.

When TMZ caught up with Gosselaar on Wednesday (September 18), the actor said he would “of course” be down to return if the production team reaches out.

For now, Mark-Paul Gosselaar fans can next catch the Saved by the Bell alum in ABC’s upcoming Black-ish prequel spinoff, Mixed-ish.
