Here are six things you may have missed this week in books: A book trailer from Ally Condie, Rick Riordan’s whirlwind tour week, new book deals, a new cover and a spoof of the National Book Award debacle.

1.Ally Condie debuts new book trailer.

Ally Condie debuted her book trailer for Crossed, the highly anticipated sequel to Matched.  Cassia is exploring the wild, open world on the outer edges of the oppressive Society. Braving perilous canyons and dangerous terrain, Cassia embarks on a mission to save Ky from certain death.  The trailer is really well done and gives you a feeling of despair much like the characters.

2. Masque of the Red Death cover revealed by Novel Novice.

3. New books deals for Eve Silver and Michelle Rowan.

Eve Silver’s RESPAWN, the first book in a teen series about a girl who finds herself inside a “game” where she must hunt aliens, or be hunted by them.

Michelle Rowen writing as Morgan Rhodes’s REBEL SPRING, the first novel in the high fantasy series FALLING KINGDOMS, in which an ensemble cast led by a princess-turned-queen see their fortunes tangle together in times of war, pitched as GAME OF THRONES for teens.

4. Out takes from Die for Me by Amy Plum.

It’s hard for me to describe Paris. The city is so beautiful, it takes my breath away.

But I know that’s being way too vague, so I’ll give it a better try. Paris is like New York if you chop off the top of all of the buildings so that nothing is higher than seven or eight stories. Then add at least a couple of hundred years to each building’s age. Mix in a ton of trees and parks and run a beautiful, sparkling river through the middle. 5. Rick Riordan’s Whirlwind week.

Rick Riordan completed a crazy week of touring in support of his latest book The Son of Neptune.  The tour started with two pre-publication events in Los Angeles and New York City.  The seven stops Riordan made were winners of a contest held by Disney-Hyperion.  At each stop Riordan was met by thousands of fans and he always arrived in style.

6. It’s Your Fault We Nominated Your Book by Accident

The spoof recounting the National Book Award debacle.  In the end Lauren Myracle withdrew from the list but proved she was a class act.
