Sam Smith fans have been waiting quite a while for the Brit to release new music. Now it looks like the wait is almost over!

The Brit took to social media on Thursday to post a heartfelt note letting fans know new music was just around the corner.

“The wait is so nearly over,” teased Smith. “Something is coming very very very soon.”

Though the singer went on to say that he’d “poured his heart and soul” into his forthcoming record, one thing he didn’t tell us was when we could expect the new music to drop. Now it seems as though we finally have our answer.

On Friday (September 1), Smith took to social media yet again, this time to post two photos of billboards featured in London and in Los Angeles, with a caption that bid both cities good morning.

Both billboards feature a black and white portrait of Smith on the right hand side. On the other, the words “Sam Smith” and “September 8” are featured in bold type.

It looks like we won’t have to wait long for Smith to drop new music after all and we’re sure that’s something his fans are thrilled for.

It’s been three long years since Smith dropped his Grammy Award-winning debut album In the Lonely Hour. Save for a questionable James Bond single, the soul singer has been lying low for the past few years, so we’ll be excited to see what he’s got in store for us when it comes to his sophomore album.
