In reporting the casting of Lynn Cohen to play Mags in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Deadline offered a little background information on why Sam Claflin’s deal for Finnick hasn’t closed yet.

Claflin reportedly “had a problem with an option owed to another studio that presented date problems,” but those have now been resolved.

The report also revealed that Benjamin Walker (Abe in Vampire Hunter), Boyd Holbrook (Kyle in The Host, Denton in Milk) and Tyler Hoechlin (Derek in Teen Wolf) were the other shortlisted contenders for Finnick.

A couple weeks ago a reputable source said that Claflin was confirmed for the role.
