S.J. Clarkson will be making big history as she signs on to become the first woman to direct a Star Trek film!

The big news was broken by Variety. However, Paramount Pictures has yet to comment on the news.

The film that will break boundaries for the franchise will also star Chris Hemsworth. The actor appeared in Star Trek which was released in 2009 and starred Chris Pine as James Kirk.

Hemsworth plays the role of Pine’s father, George Kirk. Zachary Quinto will also appear in the film to reprise the role of Spock.

The screenplay was written by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, with David Ellison and Dana Goldberg as executive producers. The film will also be produced by Abrams and Lindsey Weber via Bad Robot Productions.

Quentin Tarantino and J.J. Abrams are also working on another Star Trek that’s said to be aiming for an R-rating. The film has yet to be written and won’t be released until after S.J. Clarkson’s Star Trek 4.

S.J. Clarkson has previously worked on some big name projects such as The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Orange Is the New Black, Bates Motel, and Dexter.
