According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Deadpool actor has been cast in the first-ever live-action Pokémon movie, directed by Goosebumps‘ Rob Letterman and also starring Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton.

Titled Detective Pikachu, the movie is written by Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch. Pikachu, who can talk in the movie (so unrealistic), teams up with Smith’s character to find the father of Smith’s character, who has been kidnapped.

Reynolds’ Pikachu will be created via motion capture, so… that’ll be a sight.

The movie is set to star shooting in London this January.
