Ryan Murphy is kicking off his teases for the next season of American Horror Story early this year! Find out where and when the creator said American Horror Story season 4 will take place.

As usual, Murphy already had an idea of what he wanted to do with the next season of American Horror Story while shooting its current season. While fans usually have to wait for big clues until the end of the season, Murphy is kicking things off early.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Murphy revealed that American Horror Story season 4 will be located in, “New Orleans or it’s going to shoot in Santa Fe.”

Murphy also teased when season 4 will tale place, saying, “It’s not contemporary.” And that fans can expect to start seeing hints about the next season in American Horror Story: Coven episode 11.

While he hasn’t yet given any clues about the theme of season 4, he is ruling out one option. Murphy says that season 4 will not be a spinoff of Coven. They had been tossing the idea around earlier this year but has since killed the idea.

He reveals why the spinoff idea was shut down, saying, “We were starting to break episode 8 or 9 and we were like, ‘Well, we can’t kill that person off because we need them for the spinoff.’ As soon as those words were said, I was like, ‘There is no spinoff.’ Because it took away from the joy of the show. The reason the show is successful is no one is safe ever.”

In addition to this, Murphy has previously teased that he would like Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett to be involved in season 4. Jessica Lange has said that American Horror Story season 4 will be her last of the series.
