Creator Ryan Murphy took to Twitter this afternoon to announce the title of American Horror Story season 4. Find out if your greatest fear is confirmed below!

Update: Learn which cast members are coming back and who Jessica Lange will play!

Get ready to hide behind your pillows, ladies and gents. Ryan Murphy confirmed on Twitter a little while ago that American Horror Story season 4 will be titled, Freak Show! Following our post revealing the news that writer, Douglas Petrie, hinted on the Nerdist Podcast regarding a carnival theme, word from the man in charge finally seals the deal. Tweeting a simple announcement with a photo displaying the words, “Freak Show,” Murphy takes viewers one step closer to a circus tent.

The rumors that circulated rapidly when a fan poster went viral online depicting a run down circus tent can now continue on to toy with the broad theme of a Freak Show. Looking at Ryan Murphy’s past creations thus far in the horror genre, it is not a wild guess to assume that we can expect to see some reinvented images we associate with old carnival travelling shows. Perhaps some Siamese twins and bearded ladies are in our futures after all!

Although Freak Show can run the theme in quite a few different directions, viewers can now use that lens to examine the 1950s as one of two time periods the show will take place in. Jessica Lange’s final season will give her another chance to grace our televisions inside Ryan Murphy’s twisted realm. All that can be confirmed for her character involves a German accent, but we can only hope that her character takes center stage before her curtain call.
