Ryan Murphy’s new series The Politician is heading to Netflix, and it’s already got a star-studded cast attached that’s bound to make you excited to check it out!

According to Billboard, Netflix has officially given a two-season straight-to-series order to a new series from Ryan Murphy called The Politician.

The new series from the Glee and American Horror Story showrunner is set to tell the story of a wealthy Santa Barbara resident named Payton. From there, each season in the series will revolve around a different political race Payton is involved in.

The bare-bones synopsis doesn’t give us too much to go off of, but one thing that’s bound to excite you about The Politician is the star-studded cast that Murphy’s locked in to star in the show!

For starters, Tony Award winner Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hanson, Pitch Perfect) has officially signed onto play Payton; Billboard also reports that Plat will have a few musical numbers as part of the new show, which is bound to make fans of Platt incredibly happy!

Platt isn’t the only notable name joining Murphy’s latest series. We learned on February 8 that both Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow are currently in talks to play opposite the Dear Evan Hanson star on the new Netflix show.

With a cast like that, you can bet we’ll be looking forward to seeing what Ryan Murphy has in store for us when The Politician officially hits Netflix!
