Taking some time away from Marvel, the Brothers Russo are returning to their television roots to develop a Showtime comedy about a family of marijuana dealers.
Lest we forget, before their smash to international renown with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Joe and Anthony Russo’s claim to fame was Arrested Development, on which they directed a handful of episodes, respectively.
They took turns around shows like Happy Endings and Community before pledging themselves to the MCU, but it looks like they’ve still got their fingers in the edgy TV comedy genre.

The Wrap reports that Joe and Anthony Russo are developing a “pot comedy” for Showtime, a half-hour focusing on a family of pot dealers whose livelihood is put in jeopardy when their state legalizes marijuana.
The family now has to run their pot business on the up-and-up, and have to rely on the “black sheep” of the family: The son who broke away from their criminal lifestyle to pursue a respectful career path.
In other words, it’s like Breaking Bad in reverse.
The Russos are joined on the project by stand-up comedian Moshe Kasher and writer/actor Zach Cregger (About a Boy‘s T.J.), with Mike Larocca as producer.
Anthony and Joe Russo are already set to have a busy couple of years: Captain America: Civil War just hit theaters, and prep for the first part of the big Avengers finale, which is set for a 2018 release, must already be underway.
