Russell Crowe is apparently a man of the people, telling fans that if they want a Man of Steel prequel, he’s game to reprise his role as Jor-El!

Crowe (who is more active on twitter than you’d expect) responded to fans who have been inquiring about a possible prequel that would concentrate on the inhabitants of Krypton –Superman’s home planet.

Over the weekend, Crowe tweeted this message:

When a fan inquired whether or not Crowe was attempting to start a campaign himself, Crowe replied, “Just getting sick of reading the same question mate. However, if it came up, I’d give the tights another go.”

Crowe is the first actor to take on the role of Jor-El after Marlon Brando, who famously took on the role in the Christopher Reeve movies. Brando’s image was even used two years after his death, in 2006’s Superman Returns.

If a Krypton-set prequel did come to fruition, it would be the first feature film focused solely of the fictional planet.

While there has not been any public response from Legendary, a sequel to Man of Steel was announced just after opening weekend. The film has grossed over $248 million at the box office, to date, and marked the beginning of the road to a Justice League film.

Although reviews and response to the film have been mixed, it has been generally accepted as a reboot of the Superman series and a new starting point for the DC universe.

Man of Steel writer, David S. Goyer has been very vocal about the Legendary’s hopes to continue to make DC superhero movies. He has even referenced hopes to introduce Wonder Woman and The Flash in future films. Could a prequel be thrown into the mix? Time will tell.
