Sony continues to make the best of the superheroes that they control, and the latest report suggests that the studio is attempting to put together an all-female Spider-Man related movie.

With Marvel announcing that they have the female driven Captain Marvel film hitting theaters in 2017, and DC bringing Wonder Woman to the big screen, Sony is doing their best to develop a female superhero of their own.

At first there were reports that Sony was working on a Spider-Girl spinoff depending on which source one asked, but now Badass Digest reports that the studio is looking to create a Spider-Man related team-up of female superheroes titled Glass Ceiling.

This actually sounds pretty exciting, and is something that other studios aren’t already working on. The title is unlikely to be the official one, but its piqued our interests and the characters that could be included would be pretty exciting if working together.

The report suggests we could be seeing The Black Cat, Silver Sable, Spider-Girl, and Silk. Spider-Woman could also be included, but it’s never been clear as to whether Sony actually owns the rights to the character.

Sony’s management is under pressure since The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is said to have failed to perform as well as they’d hoped at the box office, and creating blockbusters with female superhero leads is definitely one way to right the studio’s ship.

We’re excited to start speculating about which female superheroes will be hitting theaters over the next few years and more importantly which actresses will be in contention for the highly coveted roles.

We definitely like the idea of seeing a group of female superheroes teaming up, as it’s a unique idea in a film slate which has become saturated with male superheroes. Let us know what you think about Glass Ceiling, and whether multiple female superheroes would be something you’d be interested in seeing on the big screen.
