Here’s an unfortunate rumor for all you action movie junkies out there. Speaking with the Polish paper Gazeta, Chuck Norris spoke about his upcoming turn in The Expendables 2. According to Norris, one of his demands on joining the project was that the film (unlike its predecessor) tone down its violence and language in order to appeal to a younger audience.

Below is what Norris had to say to Gazeta (via FirstShowing.net):

“In ‘Expendables 2,’ there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. For this reason, many young people wouldn’t be able to watch this. But I don’t play in movies like this,” Norris explained. “Due to that I said I won’t be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13.”

For anyone who watched the original Expendables movie, you’ll know that while the film wasn’t necessarily successful in its attempt, it relied heavily on being over-violent and attempted to use its “vulgar dialogue” to lighten the mood. With these two aspects being reportedly toned down, the likelihood of a successful sequel seems increasingly slim. What say you?
