Taking a break from her stand up gig, the comedy legend Roseanne Barr will be guest starring this season on The Office.

EW.com is reporting that Roseanne is set to begin taping episodes of The Office today and will appear on the show later this season.

The report claims that Roseanne plays a talent agent named Carla Fern, who is meant to help Andy Bernard (played by Ed Helms) to realize his show business dreams.

Roseanne has had somewhat of a resurgence in the last couple of years. Her reality show Roseanne’s Nuts made a splash before getting canceled, and she was recently featured in a much buzzed about Comedy Central roast. Roseanne also ran for President of the United States in the last election cycle.

What’s interesting is that Andy Bernard seems to be looking to follow his show business dreams. We recently reported on confirmation from showrunner Greg Daniels that someone would be fired in episode 15 of this season. Could it be Andy? Is this why he’s seeking out the help of Roseanne’s character? Maybe we’re looking a little too far ahead, but it certainly seems like a plausible scenario.

We think Roseanne will be a change of pace for The Office, which might be a good thing. What are your thoughts about Roseanne joining the long-standing comedy?

This is the 9th and final season of The Office.
