Naturally, ABC and Netflix are two of the contenders (the former is the original home of Roseanne, the latter is where all old shows come back to life).

Roseanne has always been recognized for its accurate portrayal of working class families, and Deadline notes that networks have recently been “making a concerted effort to better reflect the lives of everyday Americans.”

Roseanne Barr, John Goodman and Sara Gilbert are currently booked for the reboot, and other stars including Laurie Metcalf are expected to join. Barr, Gilbert, and the show’s original executive producers Tom Werner and Bruce Helford are also back.

The series ran from 1988 to 1997 and was the most-watched show of the 1989 – 1990 season.

The news comes on the heels of another ’90s classic, Will & Grace, getting a new season at NBC
