Ahsoka Tano is reportedly coming to live-action in The Mandalorian season 2!

Slashfilm.com reports that Rosario Dawson will join the Disney+ series in the role of animated Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano.

Once the padawan and friend of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka was created for The Clone Wars animated series by George Lucas’ protege Dave Filoni. Ahsoka’s growth through that series, from a young idealistic padawan to wise non-Jedi Force user, made her an enduring favorite among fans.

Ahsoka’s journey continued in Star Wars Rebels as she became a covert leader of the Resistance. The Togruta has also featured in several other Star Wars stories, but a voice cameo from actress Ashley Eckstein in The Rise of Skywalker is the closest she has come to a live-action appearance.

Rosario Dawson is well-known for her work in TV and film, including nerd-friendly properties like Marvel’s Daredevil. While the role of Ahsoka would require serious prosthetics, this complex, world-weary, and yet hopeful character would be a meaty challenge for any actor.

The addition of Ahsoka to The Mandalorian season 2 also offers the potential that more animated characters might appear in the live action series. The final episode of the first season already featured a prominent prop from The Clone Wars in the Dark Saber, and fans can now hope that characters like Star Wars Rebels’ Sabine Wren (herself a Mandalorian) and other favorites might appear in the flesh.

The Mandalorian season 2 has reportedly completed production, and is set for release on Disney+ next fall. The show stars Pedro Pascal as the titular Mandalorian, as well as Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, and Giancarlo Esposito.

And Baby Yoda. Can’t forget Baby Yoda.
