New Star Wars: Han Solo director Ron Howard has released some set pictures of the dark world Han and his crew will be inhabiting.

You can say what you want about the Star Wars’ movies’ director swap cycle, but the latest helmer of the Han Solo solo movie is having a blast.

Ron Howard has been releasing set pictures and snippets of info about the movie on social media, most recently a couple of Twitter and Instagram snaps showing off the beautiful set design:

Shooting a scene about desperate and dangerous times.

“Shooting a scene about desperate and dangerous times,” writes Howard in two of the image captions. Although the Han Solo movie has the potential to be more light-hearted than the very grim and gritty Rogue One, it seems we can expect Howard and his predecessors to dive into the dark parts of Han Solo’s smuggler youth.

It also looks like we can expect some Stormtrooper action (wouldn’t be a Star Wars film without them!), which suggests that Han comes into contact with the Empire in one way or another.

Despite Ron Howard purportedly doing extensive, almost complete reshoots, principal photography is expected to wrap soon, with Donald Glover, Paul Bettany and Emilia Clarke all having completed filming already.

The Star Wars: Han Solo movie is set to be released on May 25, 2018. It stars Alden Ehrenreich in the titular role along with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Warwick Davis and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
