A modern adaptation of the classic William Shakespeare novel Romeo and Juliet will debut later this year, and a trailer has leaked online offering an early and detailed glimpse at the highly anticipated film.

Romeo and Juliet’s screenplay was written by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, which makes us trust this adaptation. It is directed by Carlo Carlei who is relatively unknown. It stars Damian Lewis (Homeland) as Lord Capulet, Douglas Booth (LOL) as Romeo, Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Ender’s Game) as Juliet, Paul Giamatti as Friar Laurence, Ed Westwick as Tybalt, Natascha McElhone as Lady Capulet, and Stellan Skarsgård as Prince of Verona.

The Romeo and Juliet trailer was a leak, so the video quality is a bit low. Nonetheless, the picture and audio are clear:

Since this is our first look at the film other than photos (like the one above), we must ask: how do you think the acting is shaping up? Looks aside, the only lead actor we’re questioning right now is Booth. The rest of the cast looks pretty solid – particularly Steinfeld, Lewis, and Giamatti.

Romeo and Juliet has a July release date in the United Kingdom.
