A new RoboCop trailer has just been released, and it’s pretty badass.

Sony Pictures debuted the new trailer on their YouTube channel.

Immediately the trailer shows that this RoboCop remake is going to be very serious, or at the very minimum have very serious undertones. With machines everywhere, America has created world peace. Or is this just a huge dictatorship? We really hope the movie gives a serious look at this and doesn’t just sweep this ethical part of the story under the rug. Americans don’t want the machines here (if it’s wrong here, it can’t be wrong there, right?), so OmniCorp has to create something different. Enter the idea of putting a guy inside the suit, and we get the plot for RoboCop.

The RoboCop cast is loaded. Joel Kinnaman will star in the titular role, and the film also stars Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel, and Samuel L. Jackson.

RoboCop will be released in theaters on February 12, 2014.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.
