Riz Ahmed could be the next Star Wars actor to jump into the Marvel Universe, reportedly lining up a role in the not-Spider-Man spinoff Venom.

According to The Wrap, Ahmed is in early talks to play “a familiar character” in Sony’s decidedly not-a-Spider-Man-spinoff Venom.

Tom Hardy stars in the titular role, playing Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis Eddie Brock. Although Brock has transitioned from being a supervillain to an antihero in the comics, Venom nonetheless marks the first time Marvel (via Sony) has centered a movie around a villainous character.

The movie is written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner (the latter of whom also worked on The Amazing Spider-Man 2), and will be directed by Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer.

No details yet about the character Riz Ahmed will play in the movie.

Venom hits theaters on October 5, 2018.
