It looks like someone from Veronica’s past will be shaking things up on Riverdale season 2!

Entertainment Weekly revealed on Friday (August 11) that Veronica’s (Camila Mendes) old flame Nick St. Clair will officially be appearing in two episodes of Riverdale season 2.

Showrunnners have tapped The Good Wife alumn Graham Phillips (who played Alicia’s son on the CW drama), to play Veronica’s ex-boyfriend, and it sounds like his appearance could spell trouble for some of our favorite characters.

Speaking to EW, series executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased that Nick St. Clair might not be as sweet as he’ll appear from the get-go.

“Nick is an old classmate of Veronica’s from New York, and despite his parent-pleasing veneer, he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing: a hard-partying Lothario with dark desires and an unchecked sense of privilege,” explained Aguirre-Sacasa. “His arrival in Riverdale will threaten Archie’s relationship with Veronica, and may even put some of our favorite characters at risk.”

In addition to the announcement, Aguirre-Sacasa took to Twitter to share an on-set pic of KJ Apa (Archie), Veronica (Mendes), and Nick (Phillips) from season 2.

“A new love-triangle in #Riverdale? Welcome to town, Nick St. Clair!” tweeted the showrunner.

It sounds like Archie, Veronica and the rest of the gang are in for quite the dramatic twist when it comes to Nick St. Claire, and we’ll definitely be interested to see how Veronica specifically handles things.

When we first met Veronica in season 1, she was very up front about the fact that she’d done some things in the past she wasn’t proud of. She’s also been quite honest about the fact that she’s seen moving to Riverdale as an opportunity to turn over a new leaf.

Will Nick’s appearance have her reverting to her old ways? We guess we’ll have to tune in to season 2 to find out!

Riverdale season 2 premieres October 11 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
