Riverdale is gearing up to tackle one of Stephen King’s most iconic tales in a fun way.

According to Variety, an upcoming plot on The CW’s Riverdale will center around the high school production of Carrie: The Musical.

Riverdale’s rendition of Carrie is set to blend elements from King’s classic 1974 novel with Brian De Palma’s 1976 film adaptation, and Broadway’s 1988 production. Fans will be treated to 11 songs over the course of the special musical episode, titled “A Night To Remember.”

The showrunners have also come up with a pretty fun way to bring Riverdale High’s Carrie: The Musical production to the forefront of the story.

In the episode, we’ll see the musical come into the spotlight through the lens of a documentary Jughead (Cole Sprouse) is working on about the high school’s upcoming musical production.

Thanks to an Instagram post from the official Riverdale account, we’ve also got our first look at which of our favorite characters will be assuming which roles for Riverdale High Drama Department’s upcoming production.

“Dream episode of #Riverdale coming up! “CARRIE: The Musical” is happening!!” wrote the series in the caption.

A quick glance at the graphic reveals that Cheryl has scored the part of Carrie White herself. Meanwhile, Veronica will be playing high school mean girl Chris Hargensen. Betty and Archie have scored the role of Sue Snell and Tommy Ross, while Josie has been cast as the gym teacher.

Riverdale hasn’t shied away from showcasing musical numbers in past episodes. We’ve seen Josie and the Pussycats hit the stage plenty of times.

That being said, we’ll be excited to see the rest of the characters have a moment to show off their vocal chops when this special musical episode hits the small screen this spring.

Riverdale’s upcoming musical episode, entitled “A Night to Remember,” is set to air on April 18 at 8 p.m.
