Rihanna has officially announced that her next single, out Wednesday, will be “Diamonds.”

Rumors started flying that the singer would be releasing new music after Live Nation announced the first leg of RiRi’s Diamonds World Tour earlier this month. We now have official word that “Diamonds” will make its radio premiere at 8 a.m. EST Sept. 26, before going on sale an hour later.

The song was produced by Stargate – the team behind other Rihanna hits such as “Take A Bow,” “Don’t Stop The Music” and “Only Girl (In the World).”

“The lyrics are very hopeful and positive, but it’s about love and the gears are a little different from what people would expect,” Rihanna reportedly told radio host Elvis Duran. “I’m excited to surprise them sonically.”

“Diamonds” is the lead single off Rihanna’s follow up to 2011’s Talk That Talk. Her upcoming seventh studio album is still untitled and doesn’t have a release date, but Island Def Jam has said that details will be released in the “weeks and months ahead.”

Talk That Talk peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced hits “We Found Love,” “Where have You Been” and “Birthday Cake.”

Rihanna kicks off her tour in Buffalo, N.Y. March 8, 2013 and will perform in 27 cities in the U.S. and Canada before wrapping up the North American leg May 4 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
