Ridley Scott’s upcoming film The Counselor with Brad Pitt received a release date this morning – which will fall during “Oscar movie season.”

The Counselor has been slated with a November 15, 2013 release date – which is traditionally prime time for many Oscar nominated movies.

Penned by Cormac McCarthy (who wrote the novel No Country for Old Men, which was adapted into a 2007 film by Joel and Ethan Cohen), Scott’s next big film stars many fantastic actors, including Brad Pitt (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) , Michael Fassbender (Prometheus), Javier Bardem (Skyfall), Penelope Cruz (Vanilla Sky), Cameron Diaz (Gangs of New York), Dean Norris (Little Miss Sunshine), Rosie Perez (Pineapple Express), John Leguizamo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) and Goran Visnjic (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Fassbender plays the title role of “the counselor.”

IMDB states the film is about “a lawyer [who] finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking.”

Scott, known for directing Blade Runner and Alien in the 1970s-80s, most recently directed Promethus, which Fassbender also starred in. This is the first time McCarthy has written a screenplay specifically for a full-length feature film. However, three of his novels have been turned into feature films.
