Ride Along puts comedian Kevin Hart in the hot seat next to Ice Cube. Check out the new teaser trailer for the quasi-buddy cop comedy.

The teaser for Ride Along dropped today, giving us a glimpse of the hilarity Hart, Ice Cube, and director Tim Story (Think Like a Man, Fantastic Four) have in store for us.

Ride Along tells the story about a high school security guard (Hart) who plans to propose to his girlfriend, but must get past her police officer brother (Cube) first.

The flick also stars John Leguizamo, Tika Sumpter, and Bryan Callen. Ice Cube executive produced the film, and the script credits six co-writers including Greg Coolidge, Jason Mantzoukas, Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi.

It was announced back in April that the film already has a sequel in the works. Manfredi and Hay are already working on the script for the followup.

Hart is continuing his steady rise from cameos and features to the wonderful world of top billing. The comedian has been seemingly omnipresent over the last year, from his movie roles and hosting gigs to his mock reality show, Real Husbands of Hollywood.

He recently starred in Story’s previous hit, Think Like a Man, which placed him at the center of an all-star ensemble. Hart’s highly anticipated stand up comedy feature, Let Me Explain, hits theaters this week.

Ice Cube has been a busy producer with his TBS show, Are We There Yet? and upcoming movies, Happy Hunting and Straight Outta Compton. In addition to starring of both of those films, Cube is also set to reprise his role as Captain Dickson in the forthcoming 22 Jump Street with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.

Ride Along is due out in theaters on January 17, 2014.
