It looks like Rick Riordan has a new project on his plate! It isn’t a new Percy Jackson book, but it is from his point of view.

This morning, the author behind the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, as well as several other series, tweeted that he was in fact working on a new book.

The new book, he says, is an account of the original Greek myths. This book, while having nothing to do with either series that Percy is involved in, is narrated by our favorite son of Poseidon.

Riordan goes on to emphasize that this is in no way connected to the other Percy Jackson books. It’s just simply from Percy’s point of view.

A further explanation of the idea behind the book:

There’s no release date in mind for the tentatively titled Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods. We wouldn’t be surprised if this book was shelved for a while, considering that Riordan has House of Hades coming out in October, followed by the final installment in the Heroes of Olympus series, and will be quite busy working on his main novels.

The author’s next major series will have to do with the Norse gods, such as Thor and Odin. This series will be in the same vein as both the Percy Jackson books and the Kane Chronicles series, the latter of which is about Egyptian mythology.

Be sure to check out a timetable of Riordan’s upcoming releases, which detail the dates for the Percy Jackon/Carter Kane crossover short story, Son of Sobek.
