Richard Attenborough, best known for his role as Jurassic Park’s John Hammond, has died at 90.

The news was confirmed by the BBC, who learned of Attenborough’s passing through his son.

The actor had a busy movie career from the 1940s through the 1970s before slowing down his output. After a break during the 1980s, he returned to filmmaking and nabbed what would be considered one of his biggest roles around the world: John Hammond, the CEO of Jurassic Park. Attenborough also appeared in the film’s sequel The Lost World.

Tweeted Prime Minister David Cameron Sunday afternoon:

Attenborough won the Best Picture Oscar in 1982 for directing Gandhi.
