The Revenge season 4 premiere, “Renaissance,” aired last night. Read our recap to find out what happened with our South Hampton residents.

Revenge started with Victoria in a group therapy session in the mental hospital. Looks like she may have made a friend named Phyllis, until she makes a scene and calls Victoria names. An elegantly dressed woman enters the hospital and Victoria is filled with curiosity. Later that day Phyllis sits with Victoria on a couch and hands her a cell phone she had stolen from an orderly at Victoria’s commands.

Back at Grayson Manor, or Emily’s new digs, it seems Emily and Nolan are planning a party with — gasp! — no blackmail involved! Though we can’t trust Emily that it will be free of drama, Nolan seems to be in high spirits. Must be his new hair style.

“Have you heard about the girl that gave up revenge? She lived happily ever after.” — Nolan

We see David Clarke sitting in a dark room when a man walks in and asks if he’s leaving. David tells him he is headed to South Hampton to deal with “unfinished business.” Surprise, surprise.

Margaux seems to be doing well as head of her father’s company — for the time being. She’s directing a photo shoot when Daniel pulls up with one of the models she needs for the shoot. It is then that we learn Daniel quit working for Margaux without a reason or notice. Daniel glances at Gideon in the background and heads out. If he’s not working with Margaux, his father is dead, and his mother is in a mental hospital, how can he afford that car?

Jack is in a locker room with a bunch of cops and we find out that it was his first day on the job. We sure didn’t see that coming. His partner gives him a speech about having each other’s backs and that Jack must be the only one of them that has been accused of felony kidnapping. Jack leaves to pick up Carl from daycare to find out Charlotte picked him up just to scare him! She’s continuing to accuse him of kidnapping her and calls him a “dirty cop.” Ouch.

Emily and Nolan are running errands for their huge party when Emily accidentally backs into the vehicle behind her. The owner runs out upset and Emily invites her to the party and tells her to bring an estimate for her vehicle. Does this seem staged to anyone else?

Nolan and Emily are entertaining a couple of guests (leaders of the South Hampton Yacht Club) talking about christening yachts when the house phone rings. Victoria is on the other end pleading for help when Emily tells her she purchased Grayson Manor. Victoria pleads for mercy. Emily texts Dr. Miller to inform him that Victoria has a cell phone and he enters her room to retrieve it with a couple of nurses — and needles — in hand.

Charlotte is over at Daniel’s (who we noticed is still drinking) and they talk about how Victoria sends them postcards of her in Amsterdam. They joke that she would always be the first to bail a bad situation. Charlotte asks Daniel to pay her rent again because he still has money left over from working with Margaux. He tries to convince her to move in with him. Daniel later sells his car to help with his financial woes. We knew something was up!

Emily’s party is full-fledged and she’s rid it completely of Victoria. Margaux is covering the event for the magazine, and Jack and his commanding officer also attend. Unfortunately, the two men find Charlotte doing lines of coke in an upstairs room with Gideon. Jack lets Charlotte off the hook, for the last time.

Emily is heading a speech outside with the Yacht Club couple for the christening of the boat and when the name of the boat is revealed, commotion commences. The wife freaks out that it is her husband’s mistress’ name and not her own, and she reveals that she gave her husband an alibi the night their previous boat killed a man — the fiancee of the woman whose car Emily had hit earlier. Nolan tells Emily that she’s obsessed with getting revenge and she said that the woman will be grateful. Well, she wasn’t. Emily locks herself in her room and Nolan wants to give Emily an intervention. What a great friend he is.

After a conversation with Nolan, Margaux goes to Daniel and asks why he quit the magazine. He tells her the redhead he slept with the night he went out with Gideon OD’d in his bed and Gideon took a photo, blackmailing him to quit the magazine. Now Gideon is with Charlotte and they need to intervene.

Victoria’s new roommate is the elegant and very Southern redhead named Louise Ellis. Victoria seems to take notice of her large suitcase. It is later taken away and stored in a back room where Phyllis emerges from the inside and sets off the fire sprinklers. Victoria manages to escape the mental hospital during the chaos, leaving Phyllis and Louise behind.

Emily calls Nolan and apologizes about the day’s activities. He says back, “You’re a snowflake. A unique, blood-thirsty snowflake.” There is a ring at the door and Victoria is there. She claims she knows how Emily must have felt when returning to the Hamptons and she’s now looking for her own revenge. Queen V is back. When she walks away, a man from the shadows takes her and puts chloroform over her face. That man is David Clarke and the recognition on Victoria’s face is imminent.
