It looks like ABC is gearing up to return to the world of Revenge.

Deadline, reports that ABC is currently in the process of developing a reboot of its popular drama, Revenge.

The original iteration of the mystery thriller ran from 2011 to 2015 on ABC and starred Emily VanCamp and Madeline Stowe.

Inspired by author Alexandre Dumas’ classic, The Count of Monte Cristo, the series followed Emily Thorne (VanCamp) as she journeys back to the Hamptons with the intentions of seeking revenge on the wealthy family who framed her father.

Though Revenge fans may be a bit dubious about a reboot of the series, it should be noted a few of the show’s original creative team is on board to return for the reboot. Specifically, series creator and executive producer Mike Kelley, in addition to writer-producer Joe Fazzio are both working on writing the reboot.

This time around, Kelley and Fazzio’s Revenge is set to focus on a young Latinx immigrant.

Here’s the official longline for the forthcoming reboot:

“The next chapter in the hit series that became a global sensation, Revenge, chronicles the story of a young Latinx immigrant who, guided by one of the original series’ favorite characters, arrives in Malibu to exact revenge on a pharmaceutical dynasty, whose insatiable greed led to the murder of her biochemist mother, the destruction of her family, and a global epidemic.”

It’s definitely interesting that they’ll be looking to bring on a fan familiar character to help make a connection between the original iteration of the series and the proposed reboot. Unfortunately, there’s still no word as to who the returning character might be.

In addition, as the Revenge reboot is currently in the primary stages of development, there’s also no word on when we might expect to see the series premiere.
