Sunday night’s episode of Revenge season 4 had a fan favorite (sometimes) take her own life.

Revenge season 4, episode 20, “Burn,” aired on Sunday and our queen Victoria brought back her beloved Revenge chair and blew herself — and Grayson Manor — into pieces.

From the beginning of the episode Victoria seemed defeated. She didn’t want to leave her penthouse and was terrified after being attacked by someone in the garage. Later in the episode when Emily pulled the fire alarm and stole back the flashdrive, Victoria was shaking in fear for her life.

We were not used to seeing such a brave and stoic character this way. As actress Madeleine Stowe revealed in her interview with TV Line, “There’s always been a bit of a death wish in her. She has a history of that, so this shouldn’t be a complete surprise.”

Stowe informs us that Victoria has in fact bit the dust and will not be returning. However, we will see her in flashbacks, “You’ll see some stuff in flashbacks, which will explain more about what her state of mind was. Some people feel that Victoria’s story hadn’t fully wrapped up, so there should be — unless something has changed — some very strong revelations which we shot. You’ll get to understand her a little more.”

From what we do know of Victoria’s past, she’s always been taken advantage of ever since she was a child. Her mother was very manipulative — obviously where she got that trait — and she was forced to do horrific things. She gave up her child at a young age and ended up working her way into Conrad Grayson’s life. That was another hell-hole in itself.

What we don’t understand is, why didn’t she reach out to her other children in this time of need? Charlotte hasn’t been seen since going off to rehab. She didn’t even attend her own brother’s funeral (do we even have to mention when her half-sister came out to the world?) Will Charlotte even be upset when she finds out her mother is dead?

There’s also Patrick Osbourne/Grayson, Victoria’s son from her teenage years. Last we knew he’d fled, but was still on good terms with his mother. When he hears of her sudden death will he come back to the Hamptons and join Margaux and Louise in their own revenge on EmiManda?

No matter what happens, Madeleine Stowe has made Victoria a person that we love to hate — and sometimes even love and sympathize with. She is a very complicated character and has been put through a lot.

We can even see ourselves agreeing with a few choices she’s made through the years — except Aiden! We’ll never forgive her for that.

Here’s to you, Victoria Grayson. May you finally find peace wherever you have gone.

Revenge season 4, episode 21, “Aftermath,” airs this Sunday at 10 p.m. on ABC.
