Reese Witherspoon is officially attached to star in Disney’s Tink, their live-action film based on the Peter Pan character Tinker Bell.

Reese Witherspoon will also produce Tink with her production company Pacific Standard. Disney continues setting up live-action adaptations of popular films that they’ve had success with in the past, and we think Reese will be perfect as Tinker Bell.

Writer Victoria Strouse will be writing the script for Disney’s Tink, and while plot details for the Tinker Bell adaptation are currently unknown, we know the film will borrow heavily from the story of Peter Pan. Strouse is also a writer on the highly-anticipated sequel Finding Dory, so we look forward to seeing what the writer comes up with for both of these new Disney movies.

Tink is currently in the early stages of development, which means there is currently no timeline for when the film will enter into production, and the studio has yet to announce a release date for when the live-action adaptation will hit theaters.

Disney is taking yet another one of their beloved animated features and giving it the live-action treatment, and it’s something we’ve seen them have a lot of success with lately, with Maleficent, Cinderella, and others.

This is something that’s split many fans of Disney, as a lot of the films are near and dear to their hearts, but the films have been successful, so we imagine Disney will continue to look for ways to bring these stories back to the theaters with the live-action twist.

Disney’s other live-action adaptations for future release include Dumbo, Beauty and the Beast, and Winnie the Pooh. We look forward to learning more about Witherspoon’s involvement in Disney’s upcoming film Tink.
