The Mindy Project just announced a pretty high profile guest star for next season!
Next year, moviegoers will get to see Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling share the silver screen in Ava DuVernay’s upcoming adaptation of A Wrinkle In Time. Before that, they’ll be able to see these leading ladies share the small screen together on The Mindy Project!
On Tuesday (August 29) Kaling took to Instagram to let fans know that Reese Witherspoon would be guest starring on season 6 of The Mindy Project, set to hit Hulu next month.
Kaling celebrated the announcement by posting a picture of herself and Witherspoon on set of the sitcom. In the photo, Kaling can be seen donning a puffy navy blue vest and holding a cell phone. Meanwhile, Witherspoon looks a bit overdressed for the occasion in an off the shoulder red number.
“Our latest #themindyproject guest star is the only woman I would want to be trapped in a cave with,” teased Kaling in the caption. “(This is weirdly the second cave we have acted in together!)”

Meanwhile, Witherspoon herself took to Instagram to gush about her upcoming guest starring role.
The Emmy nominated Big Little Lies star kept her post simple, sharing a photo of her Mindy Project script, which clues us into the fact that we’ll be seeing her in season 6, episode 7.
“Is it possible to have too much fun on set? Exciting cave-dwelling things to come with @mindykaling and #TheMindyProject!” wrote Witherspoon in the caption of the photo.

Neither Kaling or Witherspoon offered up any specifics with regards to who the latter could be playing, but we’re definitely intrigued to find out what these two are up to— especially if it concerns being stuck in a cave!
The Mindy Project season 6 premieres on Hulu on September 12.
