Brace yourselves Legally Blonde fans — Elle Woods could very well be heading back to the court room.

According to Deadline, MGM is nearing a deal that could find Reese Witherspoon coming back to reprise her role as everyone’s favorite Harvard Law graduate, Elle Woods.

That’s right — it sounds as though plans are officially under way for a Legally Blonde 3 and Witherspoon isn’t the only one who could be coming back for third helpings.

In addition to Witherspoon, screenwriters Kristen “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah (the women behind the 2001 adaptation of Amanda Brown’s novel) are both in talks to return to write the script for the threequel.

The last time Witherspoon suited up in Elle’s pretty in pink wardrobe was for the 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. The film found the unsuspecting Harvard Law alumn taking the nation’s capitol by storm in an effort to fight for the rights of four-legged creatures everywhere and ban animal testing once and for all.

Currently, plot details for the third installment of the romcom series are being kept firmly under wraps.

Whatever Elle Woods’ next adventure may be, we expect she’ll tackle it immaculately dressed and with her infectious can-do optimistic attitude!
