Go behind the scenes of Fox’s fall drama Red Band Society with Octavia Spencer, to see what life’s like on set.

Red Band Society is one of fall’s most anticipated new shows, premiering next Wednesday at 9/8c on Fox.

The series is based on a Spanish series titled Polseres vermelles. It takes place in the children’s ward of a hospital, and follows a group of teenage patients and their nurses as they try to lead as normal lives as possible.

Executive producer Rina Mimoun recently described the series as, “A relationship dramedy set in hospital.” There’ll be lots of relationships forming, friendships breaking, and love triangles developing.

ET Online has released a behind-the-scenes video featuring Octavia Spencer (Nurse Jackson), Dave Annable (Doctor McAndrew), and Griffin Gluck (Charlie).

Spencer is seen having a lot of fun on set, and also laughingly refers to her character’s nickname, “Scary Bitch.” But while Nurse Jackson might have a cold exterior, it is clear that she cares about her patients very much.

Dave Annable compares himself to Grey’s Anatomy‘s McSteamy, joking, “I gotta fill out the scrubs a little more… right now I’m a medium, Eric Dane looked like he was an XXX.” Well, maybe he’ll have to settle for being McDreamy.

Finally, Griffin Gluck discusses his role as the coma patient Charlie, who narrates the story.

“Little secret,” he laughs, “sometimes I fall asleep on set…” We can’t tell if he’s joking, but with all that lying completely still, we wouldn’t be surprised!

Red Band Society premieres Wednesday, September 17 at 9/8c on Fox.

If you missed it, the full pilot has already been released on Hulu. Are you excited for this new hospital drama?
