See what Dave Annable has to say about his Red Band Society character’s role in the lives of his patients, and what’s coming up on the romance front.

Dave Annable, who plays Dr. Adam (it’s not Jack anymore) McAndrew on Red Band Society, recently spoke to TV Line about his upcoming storylines.

Based on last night’s episode, it seems like he and Jordi (Nolan Sotillo)’s estranged mother Eva (played by the Oscar-nominated Catalina Sandino Moreno) will continue to explore their ill-advised connection. But what about Nurse Brittany (Rebecca Rittenhouse), who clearly likes him too?

“She’s a very attractive girl, and at some point, those extra long looks between them might end up going somewhere,” Annable teases.

He talks talks about his character’s relationship to the child patients, particularly Jordi. “You can see that Jordi and McAndrew have a special relationship, and Jordi is kind of clinging on to him. But … my real goal is to help him and to get him out of the hospital as fast as I can.”

He calls McAndrew and Nurse Jackson (Octavia Spencer) the “mom and pop” of the kids they care for. “It’s a hard line to balance, being a medical professional and being these authoritative figures, but also being caring people and stepping in for these roles [of parents],” he explains.

We like to see how these adults can’t help but get involved with their patients’ lives. Hopefully in future episodes we can revisit McAndrew’s relationship with Jordi – because Jordi is in dire need of a father figure, and McAndrew seems in equally great need of a family connection!

Red Band Society returns next Wednesday with season 1, episode 4, “There’s No Place Like Homecoming.”
