Last nights Castle was a amazing. We saw the return of Senator Bracken and just what being in proximity to him does to Beckett.

The murder was secondary to the plot line concerning Senator Bracken. Beckett discovers that Bracken was involved with the murder victim and assumes, given his past, that Bracken is behind her death. Unfortunately as the plot unfolds it seems that Bracken is not the perpetrator but the target. The case belongs to Beckett and therefore it is her duty to protect Bracken. Castle is obviously worried about Beckett as he knows just how evil Bracken is. Beckett is faced with some incredibly tough choices. First the person who is after Bracken has a story similar to Beckett’s, Bracken did something awful to his family and Beckett can relate to that. Next Beckett stumbles upon some evidence that would help capture the murder but she hesitates with bringing it forward. As a viewer we want Beckett to do what is right but we also want to see Bracken get what he deserves. Lastly Beckett allows the killer to get away knowing that he is after Bracken but the guilt settles over her. Luckily Esposito and Ryan catch the supposed murderer. Castle tries to convince Beckett that everything will be ok but she still feels like something isn’t right. Beckett calls in a death bomb threat to stop Brakcen’s speech becuase the man they have in custody couldn’t be the murderer. Bracken lashes out at Beckett saying will destroy her but moments later Beckett is saving his life. In the end Bracken says he owes Beckett even though she has sworn to bring him to justice.

Would you have been able to help the man who killed your mother like Beckett did? Yeah, me either. With Bracken’s last words it is clear that he is not out of Beckett’s live. It will be interesting to see when and if Beckett calls in her favor.

In Castle 5×14 “Reality Star Struck” – Castle and Beckett get an up-close-and-personal view of a ‘Real Housewives’-esque reality TV series, ‘The Wives of Wall Street,’ when they investigate the murder of the show’s rising young star.
