This week, Max Adler who plays Dave Karofsky on Glee came to mentor the last 7 contenders for “Tenacity” week! Check out John’s recap of “Tenacity” and leave your comments on this week’s episode!

This week, the remaining 7 contenders on The Glee Project had to learn what it takes to be tenacious! Max Adler joined the cast as they performed “Bulletproof” by La Roux for their homework assignment. But this week there was a twist. Halfway through the song, Max asked cameras to cut for a moment so that he could give some advice. Bored with what he was seeing, he told them to really bring it in their performance and embody what it means to be tenacious. The cameras started rolling again, and the awkward moving around in chairs continued.

After all was said in done, Marissa won the homework assignment and got to work on getting slushied in the face with Max Adler, one on one. This ended up being practice for the group video which was a mashup of “Under Pressure” by David Bowie and Queen, and “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice.

The filming was very interesting. Marissa and Alex didn’t show much expression at all while getting slushied while Samuel, Lindsey and Damien looked like pros. Hannah had a hard time with it, but ultimately came through. Cameron, on the other hand, had it the worst, as the director actually had to cut and reset the shoot because Cameron broke character. At this point, it seemed obvious that Cameron was going to be in the bottom three, if not sent home packing.

By the end of the show, Lindsey, Damien and Samuel were called back leaving Hannah, Marissa, Cameron and Alex on the stage.

After some feedback, they called back Hannah, which meant the bottom three this week was Marissa, Cameron and Alex.

This week, the judges cut them a break and let them perform one of the songs that they auditioned for. Marissa was set to sing “Hate on Me” by Jill Scott, Alex was set to sing “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” and Cameron was set to sing an original song that he wrote called “Love Can Wait.”

Up first was Alex, who came out in full on drag to sing “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls. A bit of a surprise yes, but a great way to show the judges that he is willing to become a character and not afraid to go against the norm. Next, Marissa came out with a femme fatale attitude and nailed “Hate on Me.” Lastly, Cameron sang his original song, which was nice, and proves how talented he is, but was nothing really memorable. After the three performances were over, if I had to guess, I would have figured Cameron would have been the one sent home.

Finally, the callback sheet was posted, which is always a nerve-wracking moment. Alex covered his face and whimpered “No!” but when the camera moved to the call back sheet, it was Marissa who was not called back.

This was a huge surprise to so many Glee Project fans. Marissa was not only a front runner this whole season, but was the homework assignment winner the last two weeks!

Ryan Murphy has gone on record a few weeks ago saying that he regrets sending the person home who went home during week 6. That would be Marissa. Though the winner of The Glee Project is assured a spot on Glee season 3, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t use other cast members from the show as well. Could we see Marissa in season 3 after all? I guess we won’t find out until September!
