We’ve seen the future, and it looks good! Don’t believe us? Check out our list of just a few 2015 movies that make us wish we had a time machine.

Okay, Okay. We know 2015 is a long way off, but with all of the high profile announcements about movies with 2015 release dates, it seemed like a good time to take stock of things.

From sequels to sagas, reboots to remakes, 2015 is shaping up to look like the biggest year the box office has ever seen, and it hasn’t even happened yet. The lineup is filled with follow-ups to fan favorite blockbusters and a few re-imaginings of iconic tales. While we here at Hypable totally support the idea of original movie ideas, we won’t pretend looking at this list of sequels and reboots doesn’t still make us super excited for 2015.

Here are some of the highlights of the 2015 movie season:

Coming to a theater near you in 2015

‘Cinderella’: March 13, 2015

We know the story by heart, and it’s made the Guinness Book of World Records for the most retold story of all time, but that doesn’t make us want to see it any less. Starring Richard Madden as Prince Charming and Lily James as Cinderella, director Kenneth Branagh will bring us back to this often revisited fantasy world in a live action retelling of the fairy tale.

‘The Avengers 2’: May 1, 2015

Who says lightning can’t strike twice? When you combine a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist, a super-soldier, a hulking green monster, and a demi-God that controls lightning and thunder, you better believe that the coming second dose of The Avengers will be enough to make you take out a lightning damage insurance policy.

‘Jurassic World’: June 12, 2015

First set for 2014 then pushed to 2015, Universal is hoping to revive the Jurassic Park franchise with its fourth outing, rumored to feature a working Jurassic Amusement Park filled with tourists. You can imagine where it goes from there. Although some fans doubt that this troubled sequel will eventually end up in production, we firmly believe that the producers will – uhm – find a way.

‘Terminator 5’: June 26, 2015

When we talk about the future, we’ve gotta talk about the Terminator. The timelines in the franchise have gotten more and more complex, and we’re confident that that the fifth installment (with or without Arnold?) will give us a whole new layer of SkyNet consequences to worry about.

‘Independence Day 2’: July 3, 2015

Did anyone else catch this video last month of the Canadian Minister of Defense acknowledging that aliens are real? Crazy right? Let’s just hope Jeff Goldblum has another crazy computer virus up his sleeve to save the day. Can’t wait to see if he’s made the jump to the Macbook Pro yet.

‘James Bond 24’: November 6, 2015

Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes reunite for the follow-up to the critical and box office success,Skyfall. Since the sky didn’t actually fall in the last installment, Bond has plenty of room to breathe here, especially now that they’ve introduced this series’ incarnation of Moneypenny.

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2’: November 20, 2015

Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games series will complete its books to film adaptation with the release of Mockingjay – Part 2. We can hear the sadness of a million fans echoing through the sands of time as we speak.

‘Star Wars: Episode VII’: December 18, 2015

Disney will kick off its next Star Wars trilogy beginning with Episode VII directed by Star Trek director and Hollywood geek J.J. Abrams. With this, the sequel to The Avengers, the fifth Pirates and two Pixar titles, we fully expect Disney to make all of the money in 2015.
