Ahead of a big unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con next week, the Steven Spielberg-directed Ready Player One has unveiled the first photo from the adaptation.
The picture depicts Wade, aka Parzival (played by Tye Sheridan of X-Men: Apocalypse), in his hideout on the Stacks as he enjoys some time in the OASIS, the virtual world created by James Halliday. Wade is a major fan of Halliday’s work, and as you can see, he has newspapers and magazines with the OASIS creator sprawled all over his little abode.
On the right side you’ll see some references to the ’80s — a popular theme of the book and OASIS. If you look closely you’ll see Garfield, a Star Trek lunchbox, and the Garbage Pail Kids. We cut up the image into a few pieces so you can get close looks at the Easter eggs.
Ready Player One hits theaters March 30, 2018 and is based on the wildly popular (and excellent) book by Ernest Cline.
