The transcript from the live Q&A HBO conducted with The Newsroom actress Olivia Munn is now online.

The actress discusses, amoungst other things, her portrayal of Sloan, speaking Japanese on the show, and her methods for approaching the complicated economics dialogue she is faced with.

Munn mentions that when she read the script, the role of Sloan was significantly smaller. “What attracted me to the character was that Aaron Sorkin wanted me for the role and I had an opportunity to work on the show,” says Munn. Sorkin obviously had a huge amount of faith in the actress, as he has obviously expanded the role since then.

As one of the lead females on The Newsroom, it was also interesting to hear her address the criticism Sorkin has faced over his portrayal of women:

“All the characters in the show have strengths and weaknesses, not just the women. I find it interesting that a man can crumble or be silly and still be a man, yet if a woman falters or is silly it’s somehow anti-feminism.”
