Ryan Murphy has found a new home with Netflix!

In a press release sent out on Tuesday (February 13) night, Netflix announced that American Horror Story and Glee creator Ryan Murphy has officially inked an overall deal with the online streaming giant.

The new contract includes a multi-year deal which will see Murphy producing new series and films exclusively for Netflix.

In the statement announcing their new partnership, Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos spoke of how excited the platform is to welcome Murphy to the family.

“Ryan Murphy’s series have influenced the global cultural zeitgeist, reinvented genres and changed the course of television history. His unfaltering dedication to excellence and to give voice to the underrepresented, to showcase a unique perspective or just to shock the hell out of us, permeates his genre-shattering work,” said Sarandos. “His celebrated body of work and his contributions to our industry speak for themselves, and we look forward to supporting Ryan in bringing his broad diverse stories to the world.”

Murphy himself also released a statement with regards to his new partnership with the online streaming service saying that he looks forward to bringing new original stories to the platform.

In his comment, Murphy also alluded to the fact that his new partnership with Netflix does’t mean he’ll be abruptly pulling the plug on his shows at other networks.

“I am awash in genuine appreciation for Ted Sarandos, Reed Hastings, and Cindy Holland at Netflix for believing in me and the future of my company which will continue to champion women, minorities, and LGBTQ heroes and heroines,” said Murphy. “I am honored and grateful to continue my partnership with my friends and peers at Fox on our existing shows.

We’re sure fans of Ryan Murphy are exited to see what he cooks up over at Netflix as part of his new multi-year deal, and the good news is, we won’t have to wait long for the showrunner to get to work.

As we reported just last week, Murphy’s The Politician, which stars Ben Platt, Barbra Streisand, and Gwyneth Paltrow was recently acquired by Netflix. Murphy’s new series, Ratched, will also premiere exclusively on Netflix as part of the new deal.
