This December, Rami Malek will hit the silver screen in a big way when he stars as Freddie Mercury in the biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. Now, you can catch a glimpse of what Malek looks like in character as the iconic Queen frontman.

Revealed by EW just in time for what would have been Mercury’s 71st birthday, the first still from Bohemian Rhapsody features Rami Malek in full hair, makeup and costume as the Queen frontman. The actor looks to be mid-performance in the image and channeling Mercury’s iconic look from the band’s Live Aid performance in 1985.

There’s no denying Malek makes for a great Freddie Mercury, but the understandable concern many have with regards to the actor assuming the role is whether or not his pipes are up to the task of doing the legendary musician’s four-octave range justice.

However, you might take comfort in knowing that the film will be incorporating Mercury’s voice as much as possible, while using Malek’s vocal stylings to fill in the gaps. What’s more, the Mr. Robot star is incredibly committed to giving it his all when it comes to singing for the film.

“We’re going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible,” Malek told EW. “I’m in Abbey Road [Studios] right now if that should say anything to you. I’m not working on my acting.”

Helmed by X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer, Bohemian Rhapsody will showcase the story of Queen from the band’s inception in 1970, to their memorable performance at 1985’s Live Aid.

Also starring Joseph Mazzello, Allen Leech, Ben Hardy, and Gwilym Lee, Bohemian Rhapsody premieres in theaters on December 25, 2018.
