Netflix’s Raising Dion season 2 is rounding out its cast with a handful of new actors.

In a press release sent out on Tuesday (February 23), Netflix announced that actors Rome Flynn (How To Get Away With Murder), Aubriana Davis (The Resident), Tracey Bonner (Sweet Magnolias), and Josh Ventura (Queen Sugar) have all joined the cast of Raising Dion season 2.

Flynn, Davis, Bonner, and Ventura join returning cast members Alisha Wainwright, Ja’Siah Young, Sammi Haney, and Jazmyn Simon. In addition, Ali Ahn and Griffin Robert Faulkner have been upped to series regulars for Season 2.

The series, which originally debuted in October 2019, focuses on a woman named Nicole (Alisha Wainwright), who must raise her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) as a single mother, following the death of her husband Mark (Michael B. Jordan).

Raising Dion gets a bit more complicated for Nicole after her son starts developing mysterious superhero-like powers. Together with Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter), the two set out to keep Dion’s powers a secret and protect him from those wishing to exploit him in an effort to find out where his powers came from.

In addition to announcing the newest cast members for Raising Dion season 2, Netflix also offered up some insight into what characters each of the actors will be playing. Read up on character description below!

ROME FLYNN will play “Tevin Wakefield.” Tevin is a former long-distance runner and Olympic track coach who becomes Dion’s trainer and mentor. He is protective yet playful, and develops a close relationship with both Dion and Nicole.

AUBRIANA DAVIS will play “Janelle Carr,” a 15-year-old girl who has been labelled destructive and dangerous. Janelle’s mother brings her to BIONA in hopes of managing her “behavioral issues” once and for all. As she forms a bond with Nicole and Dion, Janelle begins to feel heard and valued for the first time in her life.

TRACEY BONNER will play “Simone Carr.” Simone is Janelle’s mother who is frightened for her daughter’s future, and just wants her to live a normal life.

JOSH VENTURA will play “David Marsh,” the new V.P. of Operations for BIONA, who hopes to rekindle his personal relationship with Suzanne Wu.

Raising Dion was officially renewed by Netflix for season 2 about a year ago, and production on the series’ newest season is officially underway out in Atlanta.
