Have you wanted to read more about Simon and Baz after you put down Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl? That dream is about to come true!

Update (April 23): Rainbow Rowell’s highly anticipated spinoff, Carry On has a cover!

Revealed this afternoon on Buzzfeed, the cover will be featured on both the U.S. and U.K. editions. Rainbow Rowell had this to say about seeing the cover for the first time in a statement from her publisher St. Martin’s Press:

When I first saw this cover, all I could say was, ‘Ohhhhh…’ It completely surprised me, even though it was everything I was telling my publisher I wanted. This book is a little darker, and rougher, than my other books. Tense. I wanted a cover that made me feel a little nervous.
Also, I liked that even though this cover isn’t obviously romantic, there’s a really strong NOW KISS vibe.

The novel based on the fanfiction that Fangirl‘s Cath Avery creates will be available in hardcover on October 6, 2015, but fans can get a preview of Carry On in the special edition of Fangirl out later this month.

You can pre-order Carry On on Amazon and add it to your Goodreads list.

Original Story (December 9, 2014): Rainbow Rowell’s hit YA novel, Fangirl left readers wanting more of Cath Avery’s fanfiction, Carry On, Simon. Interspersed throughout the novel, Rowell’s passages of Cath’s Simon Snow fanfiction were as enjoyable to read as the scenes with Cath running her hands through Levi’s hair. (And those were pretty good!)

Announced today, Rowell will open up Cath’s fanfiction for all the world to enjoy! Her latest book, due out in October of 2015, will be appropriately titled, Carry On. Even without the source material, we can bet that fans will be lining up to get their hands on the novel based on the fanfiction based on the fake novel within a real novel. (That must be some kind of new genre!)

The announcement came in small bursts from Rainbow Rowell’s Twitter account:

The book will be published in October 2015 and will focus on the two main characters from the Simon Snow novels within Rowell’s own novel Fangirl. Here’s more from Rowell’s Tumblr:

Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he’ll be safe. Simon can’t even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can’t stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you’re the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything. Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story — but far, far more monsters.

Have your doubts?

More news? We are certainly Fangirl-ing over here! We’ll update you once the announcement is made! Until then, Carry On, fangirls (and guys)!

Look for Carry On October 2015.
