Get ready to see a whole lot more of Marvel’s Runaways. The ongoing comic book series has officially found a new writer in Eleanor & Park author Rainbow Rowell!

According to EW, who was first to reveal the good news, Rowell will be writing the upcoming comic series, with Kris Anka, who will be serving as artist for the new stories.

In an exclusive interview with the online outlet, Rowell explained more about how her new partnership with Marvel came to fruition, and also revealed that Runaways happens to be her favorite of the Marvel entities.

“When [editor Nick Lowe] first reached out to me a few years ago about maybe working for Marvel, it was the first thing I asked him about,” Rowell told EW. “The characters and the original story by Brian K. Vaughan are just so great and so beautifully built. I was really excited because I always felt like there were more Runaways stories and that book should have just kept going.”

Runaways, which first debuted in 2003 tells the story of five teens, an 11-year-old, and a telepathic dinosaur. The unlikely group find themselves teaming up after they run away upon discovering their parents are working for a criminal organization known only as The Pride.

The end of Vaughan’s series saw the Runaways going off to do their own things within the Marvel universe, so Rowell and Anka’s series is set to pick up after most of the characters are reunited once more.

It’s clear that Rowell is a genuine fan of Runaways and has a vast knowledge of the original story, something that’s sure to help when figuring out where to take the characters from here.

We’re definitely excited to hear that Marvel has tapped such a big fan to bring more Runaways stories to life, and we can’t wait to see what Rowell does with her first installment!
